He is a striped animal. He has a thick yellow coat of fur with dark stripes. The combination of grace, strength, agility and enormous power has earned him the pride of place as the National animal of India, Tigers. Yes, I am talking about tigers or Panthera Tigris. Out of the eight races of the species known, the Indian race, the Royal Bengal Tiger, is found throughout the country. There are around 30 tigers reserves have been established in the country. But in these reserves, only 1411 tigers are reserved now !!!
A big issue to worry about....Tigers which are our National Animal, loosing its existence. The above data of 1411 tigers is an average estimate by the NTCA, Govt. Of India in 2008. In 2008, we had 1411 tigers then till now, 2010 there may be less than 1400 tigers left. But why they are vanishing ?? We all know the reason, now its time to save them. But why to save them ?? Well, there are a lots of reason ranging from Biological imbalance to National Pride.
Yes, we all love our national animal, but how to save them ?? Recently as we all know, Aircel in collaboration with WWF-India has started a project "Save Our Tigers" which you may have come to know through different media as being circulated these days. M.S Dhoni and Baichung Bhutia are the brand ambassador for the same. Now what can I do....to save them. You are the key of this project. How ?? Read on...
Be Informed, know our tigers....Speak Up, whenever you get a chance to debate about it, at different forums. Donate to show your support. Spread the word, Popularize this with national and local daily, magazines etc. Volunteer for our tigers with different NGOs working out. Like to going out for holidays?? then Visit Tiger sanctuaries, reserves and national parks, discover wildlife. Know about your holidays and plan here.
