[MyReview] Nokia C6-01 Review : VFM Multimedia Phone

Here is my hands-on review of NOKIA C6-01. Let me first tell you, you can like this phone only if you are a Symbian/Nokia fan or you can live without the Android.

2. Size and Display :

Looks, Nokia is known for its not-so-catchy phones, well right. This phone again proving the same belief. But once you take it in ur hand, you'll really feel good. It fits so well in hand, and easy to use with one hand, moreover, its metallic outlined body and black finish make you to love it more.

It has a superb 3.2 inch Capacitive touchscreen display (AMOLED) with 640x360 resolution (nHD). Various sensors are add-ons. Nokia introduced ClearBlack display technology first time in this model, which gives a clear display in sunshine or outdoors. I'll give 3/5 for ClearDisplay. I didnt find it very much impressive but a well try.
One more thing, the phone is lil bit heavy (130g) but that is due to its stainless steel body. I dont have any issue with that, even N8 weighs 135g.

3. Performance : I checked that Nokia C6-01, C7 and N8 all has 680 MHz ARM 11 processor, Broadcom BCM2727 GPU and 256 MB RAM, 1 GB ROM (N8 suppose to have 512 MB). So, considering the price point, C6-01 is a clear winner.

The graphics of phone is awesome, you will realise this when you play any HD game.
Till now i have tried a few apps n games, and all ran smoothly. These includes Angry birds, fruit ninja, Raging thunder 2, Cricket 3D and few more. But its having some hiccups in running NFS shift HD. I am yet to find an answer that when the specs are same, NFS runs smoothly on N8 & C7 then why not on C6-01 or i was mistaken somewhere.

4. Symbian^3 :

I am waiting for Anna.

There are few modifications from S60v5. Some are really good, but nothing extraordinary. (Personally this is my first smartphone, but i have used many for quite a good time.)

Music Player is worth mentioning here along with conversation using qwerty touch pad in messaging.

There is a Photo Editor, i must say, try it...its wonderful.

As its, symbian, you can't expect to get a good browser. Its again the same pathetic one. Installed Opera Mini right after getting my mobile. But i must say, Symbian^3 is way improved version of s60v5. The UI is user friendly, easy to organise your files, apps. The file browser is though the same one. You'll get Lonely Planet, burp, planet advisor installed in the maps with some other regular "Symbian" apps. There are links to some video sites and all. A gimmick.

There is one app, Social, which let you manage your facebook and twitter account. It is sufficient for me, but i guess not for many. One thing i liked is the availability to configure your various mail accounts including Exchange Mails (corporate) ones.

5. Multimedia :

8MP camera, fixed focus, dual LED Flash (i always wanted this ). Primarily its a phone not camera, and again its same camera with just more resolution. Just above Average.But, 720p HD recording @25fps, vooohhh,....i like it.

Watch movies, videos when u r getting bored in college, office or anywhere else. It is suppose to run all the formats (but mkv is not running in the default player, so have to test with some 3rd party players).

The audio quality and loudness, both are superb in this phone. You'll love to hear songs in this phone. But the crapy, utter cheap nokia headset is sh!t... Can't understand this. Nokia is giving same headset with a 3k phone and 14k phone. Hell.

6. Battery and Others :
Its specs says, it has 408h standby that means around 17 days.But i guess, if you dont do anything with this phone except using it to check time, it may run upto 12-15 days. yeah, battery backup (not talktime) is superb.

Well, that is kinda impractical and useless as the battery runs out in a day, with normal browsing, an hour+ of music playback (in headset) and some 30-40 minutes of game playing, 2-2.5hrs of chit-chat. You need to recharge it in night daily.

It has bluetooth 3.0 (waste), TV out (not tested).

GPS navigation is pretty impressive.

Voice clarity and network reception is as per nokia standards, superb. Yet to test Video Calling and 3G (sh!tty voda plans), but wi-fi surfing was cheerful.

It has UTG (USB on the go): attach USB peripherals like mouse, keyboard, pen drives to the phone via a cable. You need to buy the cable and it cost around 200-250 bucks. Some users have reported successful use with some standardized devices.

I can write more and more, but you'll b satisfied when you use this phone on your own.Believe me, this is the best VFM multimedia phone in the market in this price bracket. (12k-14k).

You can get variety of apps (ofcourse after some tweaking, otherwise thru OVI and some sites). My overall rating : 4/5.

Its again the time for all cricket fans to rejuvenate their cricketing appetite. Its the time for Airtel Champions League T20. Starting from today, 10th Sept 2010 with the battle between local Lions and the mighty Mumbai, the tournament final will be on Sept 26.

The Airtel Champions League T20 2010 is the most exciting cricket tournament played by club teams of various countries. Domestic teams of India, Australia, South Africa, England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and West Indies will once again compete for the title of T20 Champions this September. Started with 8 teams in 2008 (later cancelled), 12 teams in 2009, this year there are 10 teams divided in 2 groups clashing in round robin format from 10th to 26 September 2010. Top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals. There will be total 23 matches evenly distributed across four venues - Johannesburg, Centurion, Durban and Port Elizabeth. Just few days ago, came across to know about Noor through one of my friend. He recommended it and after hearing the music i thanked him back.

India, where a lots of music and movies releases everyday in numerous languages; the low profile albums somewhere rests behind to gain popularity. Anyways, this post is not a debate on this issue. I am writing this because I felt that i must share this mellifluous debut album titled "Noor" by Lokesh and Manan. Lokesh, 24, a physiotherapist by education but a singer by heart gave vocals of all the songs. The music, back vocals and all the post production tasks are accomplished by Manan Sharma and recorded and released by White Coffee Studios (NCR).

The album comprises four main songs along with three other scores. These are : Noor, Jal jaye jiya, Iltja (ft. Shevy), Jal jaye jiya (live), Bhuloon naa, Noor (indo-asian version), theme of Noor. All the songs are really musical and soulful, but there is only one ace and its the title track "Noor" for me. The tempo of the album is set by this track but you'll find varying resonance in the tracks. Shevy , a graduation student and an upcoming musician did a rap in Iltja, which is another popular track of this album. Its highly recommendable to you guys and you can listen the teaser from the Facebook Fan Page of Noor . If you like it, go and buy it, its high form of Appreciation for an upcoming artist. Remember, "Appreciation is a wonderful thing. It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well."

It is a GNU/linux based OS derived from Debian for promoting the use of Free/OpenSource Software through India. The other key features of BOSS are :

Holi hai......

Holi, one of the most popular, energetic n colorful festival of India. In Holi we all used to wish each other with Gulaals and other colors. From our youngers to olders, we play holi with all. But we enjoy the most with our friends.

Today, played Holi with friends and enjoyed it to the moment till it can extend. Being the last working day of my college before holi, played last Holi in college till the last moment we stayed there. Though this time, we missed the whole 'paani-keechad' as of last time but still enjoyed to the full. And yes, managed to put few in mud which they exhausted and then Gulaal and color was only means left.
This one was really memorable for us and we'll always miss these things in future for sure. In the zest of Holi, every one enjoyed their bit and forgot how we looking as still 3 days were left for Holi. I realised that when i was walking down to my home, everyone was staring n giggling. A kid said to other : 'Dekh, rang birange bhaiya ja rahe hai....'. This was also a fun part of holi and I was the happiest man of all of them. Because I was returning with an unforgettable memory which i'll keep forever.

Sachin Tendulkar - Naam hi Kaafi hai !!!

Don't be amazed if the number of the day, month, year or the decade will be awarded to 200 !! Yes, its the favorite number of we all, do i need to mention why ?? I guess, No.
The only record which was away from the little master was the highest individual score in ODI. He not even get that under his belt but moreover, gifted the first ever double ton of ODI history to his fans !! We love you Sachin !!

I felt so lucky that i got the chance to watch the man creating history. And yes you and we all are fortunate that Sachin is the batsman of our era. The media and internet soon after his century flooded with fan feelings that some of the major site slowed down or down for a while. For fans he is God, but Sachin himself and some others don't like to be called "Sachin → God". For me Sachin is not less than a reincarnation of God and perfectionism. I am incapable of explaining Sachin and his master innings, so just citing some of the expressions of his fans, utter fans !!!

Save Our Tigers : Only 1411 left

He is a striped animal. He has a thick yellow coat of fur with dark stripes. The combination of grace, strength, agility and enormous power has earned him the pride of place as the National animal of India, Tigers. Yes, I am talking about tigers or Panthera Tigris. Out of the eight races of the species known, the Indian race, the Royal Bengal Tiger, is found throughout the country. There are around 30 tigers reserves have been established in the country. But in these reserves, only 1411 tigers are reserved now !!!

A big issue to worry about....Tigers which are our National Animal, loosing its existence. The above data of 1411 tigers is an average estimate by the NTCA, Govt. Of India in 2008. In 2008, we had 1411 tigers then till now, 2010 there may be less than 1400 tigers left. But why they are vanishing ?? We all know the reason, now its time to save them. But why to save them ?? Well, there are a lots of reason ranging from Biological imbalance to National Pride.

Yes, we all love our national animal, but how to save them ?? Recently as we all know, Aircel in collaboration with WWF-India has started a project "Save Our Tigers" which you may have come to know through different media as being circulated these days. M.S Dhoni and Baichung Bhutia are the brand ambassador for the same. Now what can I do....to save them. You are the key of this project. How ?? Read on...

Be Informed, know our tigers....Speak Up, whenever you get a chance to debate about it, at different forums. Donate to show your support. Spread the word, Popularize this with national and local daily, magazines etc. Volunteer for our tigers with different NGOs working out. India : 60 yrs young or 60 yrs old......

First of all, I wish you all a very Happy Republic Day, for which seen no enthusiasm from most of the people. After 60 yrs of being a republic country, Friendship and Valentines day is celebrated with more zeal than country's Republic Day. Well, there is no point blaming us, the 60 years of independence has changed several mindsets. Today, most....most are planning to spend the day with shopping, yeah every shop is awaiting you with huge discounts, or extending weekend may be for partying or another outing. There is something good, in all these but do we missing the real republic ?? Where are we today, after 60 years.....Is India today a tall 60 yrs young country or a 60 yrs old seeking an old age home.??

The dictionary says Republic "A state in which the Supreme power rests in the body of citizens entitled to vote and is exercised by representatives chosen directly or indirectly by them." Yes, we are citizens of Republic of India as we choose our representatives for the progress of our country. But pragmatically, no one have faith in any of our representatives, our leaders. We are not sure of our growth, our policies, our security, our internal matters, external affairs, our system.

After 60 years, India Inc. is booming, no doubt we are on the path of becoming Super Power of World. But thats only a side of coin, the shinning side. With always in top charts in corruption, the rural India or the most of our population is below- below BPL. There is a line, along which its hard to make meals for living. Then what would be happening to those who are below below that poverty line. I remind, once at a busy Delhi Red light i asked a boy, may be 6-7yrs old selling Indian Flag (around 15th Aug), "What do we celebrate on 15th Aug.", he smiled and said "we got independence", and.....? he said "we make good money by selling flags these days" !!! Everyone has different view and motive of an event, this was his.

But overall of this, there are jawans who are standing still n strong at difficult conditions for us, they know what Republic day is....the kids who are participating in the Rday Parade, for them there is nothing good than this as they are representing their country. Till we have this outlook about our country and bearing the pride of being Indian, we'll be no short of celebrations.

[KnowledgeBase] Open Source Software and GNU

The concept of Open source Software and GNU started back in 1983, by Richard Stallman at MIT. He wanted to continue the sharing of software as was in earlier days of computing and in 1970s. But by the 1980s almost all software was proprietary , which means that it had owners who forbid and prevent cooperation by users. This made the foundation of GNU Project in 1984.

GNU Project is basically only the name of the project for the movement of free software and its usage and Mr. Stallman chose this name due to three reasons :

It was a recursive acronym for "GNU's Not Unix", and
It was a real world, and
It was fun to say/sing GNU (actually he likes to sing the song/poem Gnoo and then derived Gnu).

The idea or motivation behind the GNU project was to provide the people freedom of computing, let people use computer. The term "free" here does not mean with price, it pertains to "freedom". Freedom to

Copy the program and give it away to your friends and co-workers.
Change the program as you wish by having the full access to source code.
Distribute an improved version and thus help build the community.

This Freedom led the GNU project to Open Source Software. The Open Source Software (OSS), sometimes loosely speaking as Open Source (the methodology behind OSS) refers to software in which the source code is freely available to all.

Officially or strictly OSS is defined by two bodies, one by the GNU Project and free software foundation and the other one by the Open Source Initiative.The main points of the OSS definition by the OSI are:

The software and the source code must be freely distributable.
All must be able to modify the source code and create derived works.
To maintain the integrity of the original author's work, the license may require that changes to the code be provided in patch form and must include the earlier authors name.
The license must be nondiscriminatory with respect to persons, groups, or fields of endeavor; it must be free of restrictions that can limit the license.

The definition of OSS or rather "free software" (term used by the GNU Project) is a four point theory which emphasizes on the "freedom", to understand the concept you should think of "free" as in "free speech". Moreover the freedom of these:

The software must be freely executable for any purpose.
The source code must be available so that others can study how it works.
The software must be freely redistributable.
All are free to modify the software.

The free software foundation, a group created to fund the GNU Project, started with a free Operating System because the base of a computer is an Operating system. The Operating System was targeted to be Unix based (compatible), being the advantage of portability.

By the 1990, all major components was either found or written except one- the Kernel. Then Linux, a Unix like kernel, was developed by Linus Torvalds in 1991 and made free software in 1992. Combining Linux with almost completed GNU system gave birth to(resulted in) a complete operating system: the GNU/Linux system. Apart from the core, the Kernel the system's basic components include the GNU Compiler Collection(GCC), the GNU binary Utilities (binutils), the bash shell, the GNU C Library (glibc), and GNU Core Utilities (coreutils).

As of now, there is a huge market of GNU/Linux and used not only by professionals but also by home or normal users as during the progress of OSS and GNU/Linux a wide range of free applications are available and continuing to be develop including the Graphical Desktop (GNOME). [MyReview] 3 idiots (Choose excellence success will follow)

3 idiots...hmm, by the time you are reading this, you may have watched this fantastic movie. Did you said... No ?? OMG, stop reading this and book a ticket now !!

Above must have made it clear that "3 idiots" is another blockbuster of this year, or decade !! Well, the story is about three students, though Amir (44) was really not looking anywhere to 20s but played the character of Rancho, or Ranchoddas shyamaldas jhanjhad (the humor starts from the name itself), Sharman (raju rastogi) and Madhvan (Farhan) of ICE, Imperial College of Engineering -(hmm...my college name resembles it). As we all know its an adaptation of FPS of Chetan bhagat (not a copy of it), the story is about the life in the elite engg. college like IIT and the immense pressure of parents, society to be a successful, good earning engineer.

The story revolves around these three friends aka Idiots. Where Raju and Farhan joined college to be a part of this education system and with the aim of getting a degree which can in turn give them big bucks, Rancho believed in getting the knowledge and learning from fun. He obviously can't fit into an Indian classroom, where all you have to do is mug up, to rise up. As the movie includes campus, a danger Director of college-Virus (Boman Irani) oops sorry sir, Mr. Viru Sahastrabuddhe & friends the fun and laugh ride is sure. Another character which needs a definite mention is (no no i am not talking about kareena), its Chatur (Omi) - 'Silencer'. His speech (remember 'chamatkari') and other scenes like the ragging signature made the three hours a laugh riot. And yes, the love masala was really apt in the movie and i really liked the role of kareena -short and apt. The serious and emotional moments and issues were all well fitted the scene and the screenplay deserves a hats off.

Such a serious issue of our Education system was really well criticized along with a great humor. The film is actually a fairly serious take on a cruel examination system that gets passed off for an education system in this country. Not surprising, this rote-learning, cramming and to just pass the exam, (as prof said "book me yahi definition hai, yahi likhoge to pass hoge") even from India’s best institutions, produces more a bureaucracy to serve the corporate and banking sector, than any original thinkers who could pick up a Nobel prize for an invention. But as all iz well, in the end.

Super packed performances could be useless, if there is no script. The core of the movie was script and Raju Hirani (along with Abhijat Joshi) has done a fabulous job. Raju Hirani is continuing to be a good film maker and proving Bollywood is no more leaner than Hollywood. Three cheers to him. Music moves well along with movie and "Behti hawa sa tha vo" as theme was a good choice, but my favourite : Give me some sunshine... Perfect performances by everyone, gr8 script, dialogues, cinematography, story presentation with an awesome blend of humor, emotions, morals, music, romance (a lil bit but in apt quantity), and a message to India's education System.

A must must must watch for everyone...do watch this as soon as u can !! I request Mr. Hirani if he could screen this movie for free after a month or so for Teachers n professors, so that they should watch this and the message must be forwarded to them !!!

Sachin : God Of Cricket

This post is dedicated to Sachin Tendulkar and his new landmark of 17000 runs in ODI cricket. If someone who don't follow Cricket here in India, also know Sachin very well. The man who made Cricket a religion in India and unites the whole nation, is definitely their God. Yes, this is what said about Sachin Tendulkar and i can proudly say, Cricket is my religion and Sachin is my God !!

05th November 2009, the day when a batsman serving Cricket for over 19 years was playing his 435th ODI match against Australia in Hyderabad, India makes another world record. It may be not a big thing for that man, but definitely for his fan and followers. This man was Sachin Tendulkar who now holds the world record of scoring over 17000 runs in ODI cricket. 17168 runs are now in his account and everyone hopes that when he will retire, i am sure after 3-4 years, has over 20000 runs. Well, we can hope this as this is start of the season and he is just 832 runs behind his 18000 ODI runs mark.

When he made his debut in 1989 (18th Dec 89), he scored a duck, yes a duck now holds the world record of highest total runs in ODI. What a character and a truly cricketer who knows to handle the situation as the team demands. Although the match against Australia in which he made this record was lost by India by a margin of only 3 runs.

In reply to Australia's a biggie 350 runs (for 4 wickets) India all out at 347. Its never easy to chase such a big total on any kind of pitch but every Indian was hoping that we will make it and the Indian audience glued to TV when Sachin started to make this happen. Masterstroke innings of 175 runs of just 141 balls with 19 fours and 4 sixes from the Little master helped India to reach near to the target. At once till Sachin was at the crease the run rate required was low than the current run rate. But the one man show and a poor performance from the rest of the 10 players can't help out India to bag this match. Anyways, he get the well deserved MOM.

The impact of Sachin's innings was so strong that Twitter, which has countable Indians noticed Sachin as the Trending Topic at 3rd place and that's in just in an hour. Some of the comments that is really noticeable about Sachin's innings and this match includes :

"when Sachin retires, the world will no long follow the AD/BC system for denoting years. It will be AS & BS (After Sachin/Before Sachin). "

"Commit all your sins while Sachin is batting, because even God is busy watching him."

"Team India lost to Australia and Australia lost to one man, Sachin."

"Sachin led the team to the door of victory but the rest of 10 players forgot to bring the key"

Here is the First Day First Show Review of Latest bolly flick "London Dreams" released on 30th oct,2009. The show was house full as people believed that this movie has something. And yeah, they all were right !!

The movie is all about story of two friends, Arjun (Ajay Devgan) and Manu (Salman Khan) and their musical journey full of friendship tadka. The script of the movie is really fast and things happen within a song and so. The two friends, initially in punjab, separated as Manu moves to London. While Manu (sallu) is in punjab and having a life full of fun and masti (the gr8 part of the movie) Arjun is all set for his ambition of being the greatest popstar just like Mai -ka-Lal-Jai-Kishan errr Michael Jackson (as said in a dialogue). Then after some stage performances and good songs, Arjun brings Manu to London to join his band. Oh band, yeah comprise of VJ aditya and Ranvijay and Priya (Asin ,just for a face).

The movie goes on with Rock performances but the bolly-twist/turn is Manu starts overshadowing Arjun and now Arjun feels envious of him. Now the whole movie is paced about Arjun's jealously and how their friendship turned on again.

The movie is really good, the music smoothly goes on with movie. Salman is the heart of movie, certainly his comic timing is getting better in this movie with a bindass andaz. At the same time, Ajay has proved him once again that he can fit in any type of role. Asin has done her part fabulously. You'll definitely like the songs of the movie if you haven't earlier. I heard this from a lots of other people, so the music is really foot-tapping at times. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy's music really make the pace of the movie. Director Vipul Shah has done a fantastic job after Namastey London and you'll notice some good camera work and screenplay too.

Now some floppy things about the movie, one is its unrealistic pace. Shah has tried to put everything in this two and a half hour long movie so you need to assume few things. Like their friendship still remains same after so long and the stadium packed with people really dont look realistic. The climax is over-stretched and the climax concert number is not up to the mark just like the earlier songs.

I got to know that this is inspired by an Oscar winning "Amadeus", and you may be not very attracted by Critics harsh comments but who cares about them?? This might you bring on memories of Rock On. So got and watch this one, thumbs up from me. Its definitely a watchable movie !!! A real fun and a complete bolly flick with every masala. [:P]

Nokia s40 v5 proxy solution to run Internet based Java Applications

This post is for the people who were using the proxy trick for Access point to run Internet/network based java applications like OperaMini, Google maps, ebuddy etc on their Nokia phones. In india, this problem was mainly faced by users of NOP , Airtel. Although, the solution to this problem was already on internet, specifying a proxy server associated with an Access point.

If you were unaware of it, go here and download the files, (for v2,3,4) be sure you first read the README file carefully. This trick is applicable to all the Nokia s40 mobile phones like Nokia 3110c, 5200, 5300, 6131, 6133, 5310 etc). Just follow the procedures and you are done.

But now, the problem arise with the new version, v5 of s40 OS of nokia phones. The above trick wont work in these phones like Nokia 5130 XM, 6300, 2700c etc. These need the individual parameters to allow the proxy settings to work. So here i am giving the solution to this problem which was initated by me and some of my friends of Digit Forum, amir.php and vista_noob.

I have made it more simple for you. Just download this (for v5) and again follow the instructions in the README file. And send the particular .prov file to your phone via bluetooth donlge or laptop. If you are doing this for the first time, i suggest you to have a look to the earlier files, old one first.

If you don't find your operator in the above file, leave your operator GPRS details in comments and I'll provide you the same. Also, leave comments if this is helpful for you and for any other queries.

India, which is supposed to be the fastest growing/developing country of the Asia and the world. Well, apart from its economic importance worldwide the country is better known for its social n cultural diversity. Here one can see every color of life and mostly during the festive seasons.

We, here in India celebrate a lots of festivals making us happy and cheering for a good cause. When we celebrate a festival, it not only have some mythological or cultural importance, its because we tend to celebrate things with each other, with our family, with our guests, with our friends. During the daily race of being the superior, these moments cherish us and make us feel happy.

During this season, which is supposed to be the best time of year, a lots of festivals are celebrated like Navratres, dusshera, diwali, Id etc etc. Although, the whole year is full of festivities and there is a festival almost every month.

Here we do not only celebrate Id and ramzaan, Navratres too which is enough to show the unity in the diversity. During Navratres every day is full of spiritualism, worship, enjoyment. All nine days of Navratres people across the country celebrate it with different approach but with same intent. Where there is Dandia celebration in Western part (now in the whole North India), Durga puja is the biggest venture in Eastern India. At tenth day, Ravana which is the trademark, yes supposed to be the trademark of evil and bad is burnt along with his siblings. The burning is a message of victory of good over bad. Again this has a deep mythological meaning and relation but now still we celebrate it with full enjoyment and beleif.

This is all part of Colors of India, where people with full excitment and joy celebrate festivities. As soon the Dushrea will be over, the prepareness for Diwali, the most lightful festival will start.

What is recession? What is economic meltdown ? Who cares about H1N1 ? The world and the country too is highly distressed by these issues, but when its about people's faith n aastha nothing else matters. Guests, foreigners come India to see all this because they cant see all these happenings anywhere else in the world.

This is the uniteness and uniqueness of India and its people. I heartly wishes you a very happy festive season.

I just had its first experience. And here is my review:

Tabbed Browsing : The first thing you'll notice is its tabbed browsing. As mobile browsing is increasing day by day with higher bandwidth speed through EDGE n 3G, a tabbed browser was indeed necessary. So good feature by Opera.

Speed : I thoroughly enjoyed surfing on this browser as the speed is really enhanced. It compresses your page by about 90% resulting faster page loading.

Password Manager : The next thing you may notice is its password manager, which is a very good feature introduced in this release. Now no more need to remember your username and password, let Opera Mini do it for you.

Scroll n zoom : Apart from viewing the mobile sites, you can switch to full version anytime and without any hassle. It has a really good point n zoom cursor. Go to a part of a page and zoom there to view. The scroller is also very nice and fast from previous versions.

Interactive Speed Dial : Just like the Speed Dial (bookmarks) in PC web browser, all Speed Dials are at the home page. So just click any one of them and go on.

Touch n Keypad : The new Opera Mini is suitable for both touch screen based mobile phones and normal screen keypad based mobile phones. So all touchscreen users now will enjoy more with this.

I really praise Opera for their new launch but one thing that i didn't liked was the new Menu which opens a new bar on top. I am more comfortable with the old menu. Although it is graphical and looks good but the menu should be at the bottom, atleast for me.

As this is the beta release so there were some features missing, like download manger, synchornisation etc. Hope the final version have all n more guddies.

ONGC Nehru Cup 2009 final....

It was ONGC Nehru Cup 2009 final match played at Ambedkar Stadium, New Delhi and won by India. India beat Syria by 6-5 in a thrilling penalty shoot-out to defend the cup.

Till full time both teams were at 1-1, streching the game to penalty shoot-out. And the penalty shoot out was also very much exciting as once it looked India almost captured the game by leading 3-1, but suddenly Syrian players made it 4-4. But the hero of the day, Subrata Paul, goalkeeper of indian team who showed his skills and saved the goal making the final score 6-5.

Its a very good feeling being an indian, when India win in such a game where we rank 156th worldwide and beating a 95th rank team. But its not about ranking, its about winning a game. Suddenly football also getting some fame, as the news came out of Salman Khan to be the next Brand Ambassador of Football Federation of India. He was also present in the stadium to view the live action.

Indian star Baichung Bhutia was named man of the Tournament. But i would like to point one thing, after the ceremony when the team was posing for the fianl photo, it was Indian Coach who pushed in the last row, ahead of them was the ministers and members of the federation, which is quite shameful. Neverthless, its India and these things should matter the least.

Heartiest Congratulations to the India Team. Hope they win more matches like this and make some remark till 2012.

Jinnah again active in Indian Politics.....

Mr. Mohammad Ali Jinnah, who was considered the root cause, atleast in India for the partition of India and Pakistan at the time of Independence - as taught in our schools in history, has once again re-lived by the unnecessary debate caused by Jaswant Singh's latest book on Indian partition : Jinnah-India, Partition, Independence.

We all know whats going on after the release of Jaswant's book- he was sacked from BJP, Mr. Modi banned his book in Gujrat etc etc. And over this, RSS redirected the matter to the so called "BIG" change of leadership in BJP. Daily media news coming out on this issue, and awaiting a big change in the top postitions of BJP, L.K Advani may step down from the post of Opposition leader and Rajnath too.

BJP, after the defeat in the latest Elections had almost collapsed and now the situation is that there is no strong opposition party to Congress which is not so good to Indian democracy and politics. There must be at least two major parties in country so that there will be no monopoly. Also, this whole issue is just crap, now does this really matters how much Jinnah, Gandhi or Nehru was involved. No one really cares, people care about jobs, good food and living, better education, good infrastructure, peaceful life.The time where other countries are trying to figure out the growth of the country, trying to overcome with the slowdown, we're stuck at the lower GDP and issues like this.

I am not saying that history has no importance, but it should not affect our growth. Country is seeking some good leaders now who really cares about the live people not the ones who are dead now. There should be healthy discussions on how can we fight with corruption, how we grow more, human resources. Half of the country is in the trap of Drought, and prices of basic utilities is just going high n high. They should keep track of these things not such useless issues. And I hope BJP re -evolve from the current scenario, i personally think that BJP should leave the RSS phenomena and so called their "vichardhara", then there must be a good situation for all of us.

So, here is my review of Nokia 5130 Xpress Music.
Its the lightweight phone with awesome sound quality, having great look and low on your pockets as this is the cheapest phone available with all these features.

As, its from Nokia's XpressMusic series, there is no doubt about the sound quality and sound output and there are music dedicated keys on left side. Moreover, it has universal 3.5mm jack making it compatible with all standard headsets and can be connected to the your computer's speaker too, which is i think really fabulous. Also, it gives 21h continuous music playback time.

The phone has stereo FM radio with RDS. RDS is Radio Data System that means it gives information about the station frequency like Radio channel name, its frequency, info about current playing song. The feature, AF (alternative frequency) allows your phone to automatically switch to a (nearly) different frequency of the same channel providing more clarity than your current frequency .

This phone has 2 Megapixel camera (1600x1300 pixels) and can take videos with 15 fps. The camera quality is also enhanced with this model.

It has 240x320 pixels screen resolution with 256k colour support. It has a decent battery backup. Apart from GPRS, class 32 and EDGE, class 32 it has Opera Mini as the default web browser making your phone internet experience richer. It also supports Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP.

Now, one most important thing, it has phone memory of about 27 MB, but expandable memory is about 16 GB, yes 16 GB although there is still some conflict in that but 4GB support is guaranteed and it comes with a bundled 1GB microSD card.

Now some lags, i think, there are still some chances of improvement of bundled headsets, but with 3.5mm jack it overcome with it. Also, there is only one player for all media playback rather videos, mp3's etc...and you have to again select your music files. Initially, this might irritate you.

IMO, go buy it, the current street price is around Rs. 5.3K. With superb music features and other qualities, its going to be a great deal, and it is cheaper because it is manufactured in India rather than imported.

Ashes 2009 - final test.....

Ashes, needs no introduction to the cricket community, a war between Aus & Eng, a war between Bat & Ball, a war for nations pride for both Aus and Eng.

This year's Ashes has been so exciting, as always. In the 5 match series, its 1-1 and two test draws. So its the final for the Ashes 2009, and sheduled on 20-24 Aug 09 at the Oval, London.

We all know how exciting was this year's Ashes till now, and definitely will the last match. Both English and Aussies players are all set to fire the opponent and get their Ashes.

The first match drawn, but Punter showed that he is all set to get the trophy. This match was really a nail-biter, that last wicket of Eng made this an unforgetable end, although rain helped Eng a lot. Paul Collingwood played his part too.

The second test won by Eng, and this was a historic win as Eng won an ashes test first time at Lord's. Also, retirement announcement of Flintoff from test gathered news too. As a result he played exceptionally well and help Eng to lead by 1-0 and get the MOM.

In the third test, rain played superbly and almost washed the test and finally match was drawn.

In the fourth test, Ausssies came back strongly and allout Eng in just 33 overs with only 102 at the score board in first innings. Siddle was the hero with his 5/21 in just under 10 overs. This set the stage for Aussies to made 1-1. And they did it well by making this victory with huge margin. They won the match by an innings and 80 runs.

Now, this is the time, for both eng and aus to show up their strengths and powers. They are so exciting and so the viewers.

For me, i wish the best team win, but should be the most exciting match of the season.

Saina : A new Star......gr8 match !!!

I am writing this post after watching Saina's current match of WBC (World Badminton Championship) going on in Hyderabad. The match was really very exciting and one should watch these sports too other than Cricket, although i am a big fan of Cricket.

Saina Nehwal, seeded No.6 in this tournament beat Petya of Bulgaria in a thrilling match. She lost first game to Petya by 18-21. But Saina came back strongly and won the last two game by 21-18 and 21-10 resp.

Saina(20) lost first game as she did some mistakes as she told to media. But the second game was really nail-biting for her fans and her coach P.Gopichand. Saina managed a lead of 18-10, but the bulgarian contender fought back brilliantly and made it to 18-18. But Saina kept her cool and won the game by 21-18.

The third game was quite easy for Saina but there were some long hiccups-n-samshes and outs and she managed the lead and won the game and the match. It was a perfect match, although a very few people watched this match on TV but i must say along with Cricket we must give some response to the other games, after all these are played in Olympics.

Now, Saina will take on second seed Chinese Ling Wang in the quarterfinal on Friday and i bet this would be the tougher one than today and so exciting. Indian mixed doubles pair of Jwala Gutta and V Diju, 8th seed pair also entered into quarterfinals.

Watch the Live Telecast of the match on DD-sports. The DD-sports concerned people should include more cameras and new technology so that people watching this have gr8 experience, this is the difference between a Govt supported channel and private sports channel. But go on and cheer for her.

[How To]Port forwarding for utorrent (using Telnet)

In continuation with the previous post, here I'll tell you how to port forward for any application using Telnet, which is the second method to do so.
(This tut tested on Win XP with UT 300R2U, but i think may work on all systems.)

1. Go to run> (type) Telnet.

2. Open the host connection by providing your IP address like this: (type without quotes)
"o 192.168.1.1". This may be different for you.

3. Now this will prompt you for Login & Password. Type your one.
If you dont know, try "admin" for both login & password.
(Note: Password will remain invisible, so carefully enter your password.)

4. Now, after providing correct login detail, a menu will appear with Sr. No. You have to enter that serial no for selecting that item from menu.
Now here, we are concerned with NAT so type " 6 " . This will show NAT Menu.

5. Now, select option 1, i.e. virtual server (type 1). This will prompt Virtual Server Menu. And then select "Add " option 1.

6. Now you need to enter the details, which is quite similar like in my previous post.
Here are the details :

Service Name : abc or xyz (anything you want)
Protocol : tcp & udp (option 0)
External start/end : 61000 (or any other number around 50-60,000).
Internal start/end : same as above
IP Address : your LAN IP address, check it from (run>cmd>ipconfig).

It may sometime take 30sec-2min to configure your IP Address, so keep patience.

7. Now check with option 3 (show) that your port no has been added or not. It should be there. Now exit from all menu and come back to the main menu.

Now save & reboot using option 12 in the main menu.
Thats it. Now enter this port no in your application like utorrent.

[HowTo] Port forwarding for utorrent

Sometimes we need portforwarding, which helps you to open up a port in your firewall or router so that you can accept incoming connections making your download (application oriented) fast or can play online games, host a web server or ftp server. For more info check here or here.

Here this tutorial is concerned with opening up a port for utorrent, the smallest bittroent client for making our download fast (depends on your connection and configuration). The speed may increase from 2-10 KBps for a normal broadband connection. This method can be applied to any other application. Basically this tut is all about opening a port for incoming connection.

There are two methods, first one is through router's/modem's interface page which is quite easy than the other one which is through Telnet.
I am going to discuss it the first one first and second in later posts.

The screenshots below may vary depending on your ISP and modem. I am currently using MTNL (India) with modem UT 300R2U.

1. Open your Router's home page in your browser like http://192.168.1.1/main.html or simply http://192.168.1.1

2. Click on Advance Setup and then on " NAT ".
There you'll see the table showing port address and its detail.

3.Now we are going to add one for our use. Click on "Add". A new page will open.
Enter/fill the following details :
a) There you can choose "Service", if you want to open a port for a speicfic service.
But here i am going to select "Custom Server", for all. Name it, anything you want like xyz.
b) Enter your "ip address". Get this from Run > cmd > ipconfig.
c) Both External Port Start/end and Internal Port End : any number around 60,000. Say, 61111.
d) Protocol : TCP/UDP.
e) Save the settings.

Now in the NAT table, you'll see the abc server details.

Now save & reboot your router to take the changes. (Go to Management> Save & Reboot).
That's it. All Done...!!!

Cofused with the title...?? Actually i am talking about Linux, the OS which is hot favourite for not only techies but normal users too. Why is it so...?? Hmm......read on, you'll definitely get your answers.

I'll not write here anything techie about Linux, just what a normal user can get better than Windows OS. Linux, is the open source operating system which means that the software including the OS itself and the source code of it is freely available and one can modify it according to his needs and can also release it under the same License, called GPL (General Public License). You can google it to know more about it.

Now what matters more, how Linux is giving more advantage to a user than Windows. Here i am not making a comparison with Windows, but trying to scoop up the Linux advantages.

1. Cost : The most important thing is the "Price". What we pay to get the OS and the softwares we use. Ya ya, i know most of the people reading it says i get it Free, thnx to Piracy. But you are not need to be pirate a more. Because, Linux is completely free and the softwares too. And i must tell you that the Linux softwares are giving neck-to-neck competition to the Windows software, even though its FREE.

2. Ease of Use : There is a Myth that Linux is very complicated and not very handy to use. I am not completely denying that, but have u ever think that you learnt windows after devoting how much time to it ? I can bet you can learn it by giving just 10th part of it. The installation is very easy and takes very less time, infact some distros install on your system in 20-25 minutes.

3. Performance : Linux is mostly used as Server, although i m talking about desktop versions, why.... because it gives very high performance and can run 100s of days without a single reboot, it doesnt hang due to memory leaks like in windows and no need to reboot after any installation. There can be any no of users working simultaneously. It is a super multitasking system which dont slow down your pc with job queues and thus can work on any hardware configuration.

4. Compatability : You can run Linux on any system, with the least hardware configuration and it supports virtualisation too. You can create virtual hardwares to power up your needs. Great utility. It can run all common software packages and compatible with almost all hardwares.

5. Customisation : Linux is fully customizable. You can customize everything, how your desktop looks, your embeddeed system, can add docks, desklets because all configuration is saved in a simple plain text file and it doesnt hide up from you like windows. It has a large no of utilities for the power internet users.

6. Support : Its free, doesnt mean that if you get in some trouble, no way to get out of it. There is a huge community for all kinds of distros, guyz working and solving your problem and making open source a hit. You can google it up, and i am sure your problem have already been solved our earlier by someone. So no need of worry, anything will be sorted out by the developers and their team and a large no of users already using Linux.

7. Choice : Its you who is gonna to use it. So you can choose any one distro from a large no of distros available in Linux. Distros or flavors are the Linux based OS, like Ubuntu, Fedora, DSL, Mandriva etc etc which are desktop OS's and one can choose a Server edition too. I cant name them all, you can choose by your own specification. You can also choose between a huge no of applications available for you.

8. Security : Last but not the least, its security which puts up Linux on the top. It is highly secured OS, thats why used for the Servers and there is no need for any kind of anti-virus or Internet security suite because its Virus free. The architecture of Linux is so, that it makes Linux highly secured and sanitized from viruses. You can choose who will be going to access your files, every damn file can be configured for the need.

I have tried my best to put up the best in short, if you are now gonna to try Linux, I'd suggest you to go with Ubuntu, because its the most popular and easiest of Linux OS and feel free to ask me anything about it.

[My Review] Love Aaj Kal

By the time you are reading this, you might have watched the movie,Love Aaj Kal. It has already got so much popularity, here i am giving my review about the movie after watching it. All shows are running House-Full, so its a hit..!!!

The movie is all about Love, how its Aaj (today) and how it was Kal (earlier,1960s). In Aaj, Saif played the character of Jai and Meera by Deepika. Jai is a cool stud type guy in London who falls in love with Meera, a hot modern gal. Both were enjoying their relationship for about a year, then broke off due to their ambitions, career just like today where the guys n gals commitment status keep changing due to several reasons.

The second story, i.e. Love Kal is story about a punjabi sardar of around 1960s which is narrated by Rishi Kapoor. The movie takes you to both stories in tagged "Imtiaz Ali's" time shifting environment. Jai and Meera have portrayed perfectly the modern guys n gals who often get confused and in flirty mood makes them enjoyable. This second story made Jai to realise about his true love, and then the story is all about bringing back your true love as in Kal.

The first half is just OK type, but the second half force you to say that "yes, its paisa vasool movie". This movie can be compared with "Jab we met" upto a higher extent. After all, Love aaj kal is also directed by Imtiaz Ali who directed jab we met. Full marks to him but the loop hole is definitely "Deepika Padukone". No doubt she is looking gorgeous but with no acting skills at all. The movie may be more interesting if Deepika would have played the role of girl in Kal story. Saif was perfect.

Music is already on the top of Charts, but i like "Chor Bazari" the most. The first song of the movie tells you the whole story. And the movie ends with just like jab we met by a rocking song, here Aahun aahun. The movie is of around 2h15min, which is really apt.

I think you must watch this, and if you are missing your someone special, then this one is definitely for you ;)

10 yrs of Kargil war, a Salute to our Soldiers...!!!

Its now, 10 yrs of our win over Pakistan in Kargil war, a vijaydashmi celebration. On 26th july 1999, the Indian Army recaptured the last hill captured by the pak soldiers, so called KARGIL VIJAY DIWAS.

In 1999, India lost 533 soldiers and officers from the Indian Army to regain a series of strategic peaks in the area that had been occupied by Pakistani troops between Drass and Kargil.

A heartedly salute to the Martyrs of the Kargil war, who fought for us, who lost their lives for us without thinking about their own families. The indian soldiers fought against the odds, that we couldn't even imagine. They are the real heros and we should always pay respect to them, if its not a day like Independence day or Vijay diwas.

Google........without which my web experience would be incomplete !!!

I can't believe if u say that u r not using any of the services by Google.

Yes, definitely, Google has became one of the daily need for us like food n water. Its not true only for Techy kind of people, but mass will agree on it.

We r using atleast one of the services provided by Google. Some of which i use are :

Google [the giant search enginge]
Gmail [google's e-mail service]
Blogger [google's blogging service]
Chrome [a web browser by google]
Gtalk [google's chat client]
Orkut [google's social-networking site]
Youtube [another trendsetter by google]
Google Groups [Groups by Google]
Google Desktop [a desktop utility for xp users]
Google Maps [name says it all]

Apart from these, some other services are:

Everyone is defintely using the search engine by google, virtually everything is out there. Gmail, everyone now has a gmail account and it has made yahoo mail a pretty outdated. Blogger, through which i am writing this post. U should also try to have ur own, its pretty easy. And yes, Chrome is my default web browser for windows. Its really feature rich and has enhanced my browsing experience. Orkut, every indian knows about it. Youtube, no need to praise about it. I m currently member of some groups of my interest on google-groups. You can find urs too. Google desktop has added glitters to my desktop and gives a new look. Google maps never let me ask anyone where is this place .

Try anyone of service u have never used, i assure u, google never let u down...!!! I have provided the link for which i can, for rest just google it yaar... :)
